Digital literacy to
me is, the ability to use a range of different technologies to identify,
evaluate, navigate, and create information using those technologies. Knowing
how to use technology helps me a lot because it helps me complete my homework
faster. For example, I can search the Internet to help me solve and understand
things more and I can type on Microsoft Word or create a PowerPoint so I wouldn't have to hand write my papers and I wouldn't have to create a poster.
This would also apply to my friends, family, and classmates who have access to
technology. To add on, technology can help me to communicate better. There are
so many social media site and now we have apps for all of those so we can go on
them on our phones. There is twitter, instagram, and Facebook so we can
communicate from overseas or just a street away. I could text someone on my
cell phone and ask what the homework was so I could complete it for the next
day. To become a responsible digital citizen we should respect the rules on
what social media site we are on. Also, we would be safe and not give out any
personal information about ourselves and our friends. On an app called
Snap chat, where you send pictures that can be looked at up to 10 seconds long
of yourself or something you like, you have to be appropriate and know that
once you send it someone could take a screenshot and post it online. This
applies to twitter, instagram, and Facebook as well because you could also post
a picture or you could write something and it will be on the Internet forever. You
need to be safe while using the Internet because there might be online
predators following you on twitter or instagram and/or is your friend on
facebook so you shouldn't post a picture or write something about where you are
and add the location on it because someone could find you. Also, you shouldn't start
an argument with a friend on a social media site because it is your business,
nobody else wants to hear it and you might say something you regret.
I am a Creative Design Using Technology student in Bacon Academy. I love lacrosse and listening to music and I love using technology!

Digital Access
library by Akp8889 on GoAnimate
Digital access means that everyone should have access to technology. Technology affects me tremendously, I use it for my homework to look up stuff and to write papers rather than write it down with a piece of paper and pencil. Also I use technology for entertainment. For example, I can play games online, watch videos, and talk to my friends and meet new people. It would affect my life a lot. I wouldn't be able to text my friends and ask questions. Also, I wouldn't be able to text or call my parents in case of an emergency or if I needed to be picked up early from somewhere. It would affect society a lot because maybe we wouldn't have as many bullies. A lot of people can go online and hide behind a computer screen and bully people. Digital divide is people who have access to computers and the internet, and those who don't. So in education it is students who do not have access to computers and the internet, and those who don't. I have internet access at my house so I use it to help me out with school and for entertainment use also. In Bacon Academy we have technology all around us and our teachers let us use our phones in class by using them for what we are learning. We have a library that has computers that are open to students to use during school and after. The effect that digital access has on a students academic growth are that they might not know as much as other students might. They might get more spelling mistakes because they don't have spell check. And there's a lot more information on the internet than one book.
